CCU Graduate Named Student Teacher of the Year

The Education Department would like to CONGRATULATE CCU graduate Laura Jones

We are  pleased to announce that one of our 2011 CCU Education graduates was just recognized as the recipient of the Ohio Association of Teacher Education Outstanding Student Teacher award for 2012.  Laura Jones will be honored at the OATE award dinner held Thursday March 22 at the OATE conference in Columbus.  Laura Jones competed against all student teachers nominated in the 51 colleges and universities in Ohio.  Our congratulations to Laura on receiving this well deserved award!

Our Purpose:  Our day together will consist of worship, key messages presented in main sessions, questions answered, a workshop slot, conversation together, and our closing commissioning service.  Throughout the day, we plan to encourage, teach, motivate, and support church staff members and elders in congregations wanting to make a difference for Christ in our culture.

PROGRAM

8:30am – Registration and light refreshments in the Chapel Lobby

9:00am – Session 1: Leading through Confusion – Dr. Gary Johnson
(This session explores the ignorance of current culture, apathy, complacency, etc. on the part of elders/church members.  The problems addressed in this session will be further developed in the next session.)

10:00am – Break

10:15am – Session 2: Leading through Conformity Dr. James Estep
(This session explains the problem of using old methods and non-biblical models for leading the church, as well as having a lack of self-leadership, etc. Elders who follow old models, etc., will create an environment filled with conflict, which is addressed in the next session.)

11:15am – Refreshment Break

11:30am – Session 3: Leading through Conflict – Dr. David Roadcup
(This session identifies the causes and cures for conflict among the elders, with the staff and within the congregation.)

12:30pm – Lunch provided

1:15pm – Roundtable Discussion – (Elders & staff members will gather together around tables to discuss key elder issues and effective elder ministry)

2:15pm – Refreshment Break

2:30pm – Workshops by e2 team

Jim Estep: Developing Contemporary Leadership Models
David Roadcup: Analyzing and Resolving Conflict in the Church

3:45pm – Next Steps – A Closing Main Session –Being Sent (This brief session focuses on the mandate to lead a prevailing church that advances the kingdom of Jesus and is a veritable threat to the kingdom of darkness.)
