<p style="text-align: justify;padding-left: 30px">Darcy Haag Granello, Ph.D., is a Professor of Counselor Education in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. She is an Ohio Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Supervising Credential. She has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed national journals, has made over 200 international, national, and state presentations, and has secured over $750,000 in grants. She is co-author of three books (<em>Suicide: An essential guide for helping professionals and educators; Suicide, self-injury and violence in the schools; Counseling Today: Foundations of professional identity.</em>). One of Darcy’s research foci is in suicide prevention, assessment, and intervention, and she has received more than $500,000 in funding to develop and implement a comprehensive suicide prevention plan for the OSU campus. Her second area of interest is in counselor education, specifically the cognitive development of counselors, counseling supervision, conducting outcome assessment, and attitudes towards persons with mental illness. Darcy and her husband, Paul, are certified American Association of Suicidology trainers for assessing and managing suicide risk, certified suicide prevention gatekeeper trainers, and Red Cross Mental Health First Responders. Together they regularly conduct 3-hour and 6-hour trainings on suicide prevention, assessment, and intervention to practicing counselors and other helping professionals.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;padding-left: 30px">Paul F. Granello, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Counselor Education at The Ohio State University. He is an Ohio Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with supervising credentials. Paul is a founding partner with the Ohio Department of Mental Health in establishing the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation. He is the recipient of $2.3 million in federal funds for suicide prevention under the Garrett Lee Smith Act. Paul has presented and trained on suicide over 200 workshops nationally and internationally and has co-authored three books on suicide (<em>Suicide: An essential guide for helping professionals and educators; Case studies in suicide: Experiences of mental health professionals; Suicide, self-injury, and violence in the schools</em>), and a textbook (<em>Wellness counseling</em>). Paul is a QPR certified suicide prevention instructor and an SPRC trainer. Paul also conducts research on psychotherapy outcomes and the psychological and social characteristics of individual well being. He has published over 30 articles in peer reviewed national journals, has authored numerous book chapters on suicide, anxiety, technology in counseling, and wellness, and has published two DVDs on counseling techniques with Prentice Hall.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;padding-left: 30px"><a href="http://www.ccuniversity.edu/counseling/files/2009/05/summit-fall-color.jpg"><img class="alignright  wp-image-1249" style="margin: 5px" src="http://www.ccuniversity.edu/counseling/files/2009/05/summit-fall-color.jpg" alt="" width="196" height="79" /></a>This workshop will use both the current state of the research and practice experience in both schools and mental health to help participants learn the basics of suicide risk, assessment, prevention, and intervention. Participants will be given concrete, practical information to conduct culturally and developmentally appropriate risk assessments, as well as a 7-step model for intervention that includes strategies for helping professionals to implement. Attendees will be given extensive handouts for use after the session, with an emphasis on culturally and developmentally-appropriate risk assessment and prevention programming, as well as intervention guidelines for treatment. Efforts will be made to include different practice settings (school, community, private practice, hospital, nursing home, etc.) and to attend to different levels of experience and training among participants.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Journey to Wholeness: Celebrating Healthy Sexuality</strong><br />
March 15, 2013 at Cincinnati Christian University</p>
<p><em>Journey to Wholeness</em> was one-day conference to equip counselors, ministers, and lay leaders to deal with issues of pornography and sexual addiction by promoting a positive, biblical approach to sexual purity.</p>
<p>2013 Keynote speaker: Dr. Richard Blankenship, Director of the <a href="http://www.cornerstoneprofessional.net/counseling-center-locations/cornerstone-professional-counseling-north-atlanta-dunwoody/director-and-staff/">Cornerstone Professional Counseling Center and Cornerstone Intimacy &amp; Healthy Sexuality</a></p>
<p><em>Richard is the president and director of the International Association of Certified Sexual Addiction Specialists (IACSAS). Richard is on the board of directors for the Association for Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS). He developed the first graduate course to be taught on sexual addiction with a colleague and guest lectures in a variety of courses. Richard is a frequent guest on radio and television shows in the Atlanta area dealing with sexual addiction, spouses/families of addicts, and domestic violence. He is the author of the LIFE guide for young men, S.A.R.A.H. (Spouses of Addicts Rebuilding and Healing), Spouses of Sex Addicts: Hope for the Journey, and the LIFE Guide for Couples (coauthored by Jackie Coleman.) Richard holds two masters degrees; an M.Ed. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and an M.A. from Harding University Graduate School. Richard is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with the state of Georgia, a nationally certified counselor (NCC) with the national board of certified counselors, a certified clinical sexual addiction specialist (CCSAS) and a certified clinical hypnotherapist (CCH.) He is married with two children and has practiced with churches and counseling centers for almost 25 years. </em></p>

<p><strong>Keynote speaker: Dr. Mark Laaser</strong><br />
Dr. Laaser is an internationally known author and speaker who has written six books, including <em>Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction</em>,<em></em> and <em>The Pornography Trap</em>. He is also an adjunct faculty member at several graduate schools. He and his wife Debbie started <a href="http://www.faithfulandtrueministries.com/">Faithful and True Ministries</a> to counsel couples healing from sexual addiction.</p>
