The State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board has conferred pre-approval for the Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) degree as a qualifying degree for licensure as a professional counselor. This degree, and the training received in attaining the MAC degree, permits the MAC graduate to sit for the National Counselor Examination (NCE) in the State of Ohio.

Currently the Department of Behavioral Sciences has applied for program approval under the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The Department is seeking CACREP accreditation for the Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program in the specialty area of Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology program is an active participant in the American Psychological Association (APA) Psychology Department Program. Although APA does not accredit Bachelor-level or Master-level psychology programs, the Psychology Department Program is designed to “enhance teaching and learning” in undergraduate psychology programs.
