The Upper West Side is the neighborhood between Central Park and the Hudson River, running from 59th to 110th Street. It is an ethnically diverse neighborhood, home to the Ivy League Columbia University, Julliard Music School, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Natural History Museum, among other cultural giants. Imagine – one of the most cultured and educated neighborhoods in NYC playing host to a growing number of vibrant churches, with more and more New Yorkers bringing their energy and passion into God’s kingdom for the good of the city.
From April 7-May 7, our urban outreach project will focus on the upcoming launch of the Church of the Incarnation in New York City. Jared Witt, who earned his M.Div. and Ph.D. from Yale University, and his wife, Stephanie, are leading a team in partnership with the Orchard Group, a church planting organization in the Northeastern United States. Paul Williams, President of the Orchard Group, will speak in chapel on Tuesday, April 14, and lead a mentor lunch in the Pavilion Conference Room from 12-1pm. His associate, Brent Storms, will speak on Thursday, April 16.
During Urban Outreach Week, join in on a CCU tradition with Serve ‘09. Classes will be canceled Wednesday, April 15, to allow everyone to participate in Community Service Day, with a green focus this year on as we serve in neighborhood parks.
