Adolecent/Young Adult Education

Teachers Licensure Program AYA English

Students completing this licensure program are certified to teach English in grades 7-12 in public or private schools in the state of Ohio.  Our graduates have the option of transferring their license to other states.

Requirements

In order to interview for acceptance into the Adolecent/Young Adult Program, each student must meet several requirements. Interviews are usually completed during the spring semester of a students sophomore year. Note: Completion of these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

    • Attend Orientation
    • Completed Application Form
    • Read & sign the Education Department Handbook
    • Evaluation of dispositions of the pre-service teacher form completed by professor, employer or minister
    • Successfully complete and submit a teacher platform essay, an assignment given in EDUC 101 Introduction to Teaching
    • At least 2 semesters of your Spiritual Development service hours must be in an educational setting

    Grade Requirements

    • EDUC 101 Introduction to Teaching (B or better)
    • ETHI 110 Modern Ethical Problems or approved ethics elective (B- or better)
    • Six hours of English (B- or better average)
    • Three  hours of Math (B- or better average)
    • Three hours of Science (B- or better)
    • Six hours of Social Science (b- or better average)

    Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.67 and completed the above course requirements
