Bachelor of Music

The Bachelor of Music degree combines majors both in Bible and in Music & Worship.  The BM can focus on applied voice or piano.  (Other instrumentalists may receive the BSM degree, listed below.) The degree is designed to prepare for a career in the specialized ministry of Music & Worship in a local congregation.  Other vocational options include parochial school teaching, private studio teaching, professional music performance, and combination ministries such as music and youth in a church. The BM in Music and Worship can also equip a student to succeed in a graduate program of a music school. Several CCU alumni are now teaching in other colleges and universities.

BM with cooperative program leading toward teaching licensure

Some of our students opt to follow up their BM program with a Master of Education from Milligan College, a 15-month program which leads to teaching licensure. The BM plus the MEd from Milligan College serves as a thorough training to prepare secondary music teachers for public or private school.  Please contact Music & Worship Office for more information.

Bachelor of Music Education

(Pending approval by the Ohio Board of Regents)

The Bachelor of Music Education Degree combines majors both in Bible and Theology and in Music Education, and leads to licensure for the State of Ohio.  The BME can focus on choral/vocal or piano. The degree is designed for those who desire to prepare to be an effective, licensed music teacher in the public or private school setting.  The desires to develop strong musical abilities and to teach and work with young people are combined within a biblical view of education.

Bachelor of Science in Music

The Bachelor of Science in Music degree combines majors both in Bible and Theology and in Music and Worship.  The BSM can focus on applied voice, piano, brass instruments, guitar, or composition.  Others instruments may  be offered through special arrangements. The degree is designed for those who desire to prepare for leadership in music and worship ministry in the church.

Associate of Arts in Music & Worship

CCU also offers an Associate of Arts in Music and Worship, which entails an audition and acceptance similar to that of the bachelor degrees, but in a two-year program. The Associate of Arts Degree offers the student a vocational emphasis in Music and Worship with an opportunity to develop some of the basic skills that are necessary for leading music in the church.

Regardless of your chosen career, our goal is to help all graduates of our degree programs find effective service for the Lord Jesus Christ through music, and to worship him in spirit and in truth.

CCU is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
