News Bulletin: Beyond the Walls Phase I Completed!

Ballard Entry Pavilion DedicationThanks to the generous support of CCU’s friends and donors, we are celebrating the completion of Phase I of the Beyond the Walls campaign. One of the completed projects from Phase I is the Jack and Charlotte Ballard Entry Pavilion. Click the screen to the right to watch the dedication ceremony.  During the first two years of the campaign, 2.75 million dollars were committed to cover the completion of:

  • A renovated Dining Hall
  • The expansion of our CCU Counseling Center
  • Renovation of our Student Financial Services and Student Life offices
  • Exterior repairs of our library and graduate building, Crouch Hall, as well as the installation of a new chiller for this building
  • Installation of new windows and heating and air conditioning in the men’s residence, Restoration Hall
  • Renovation of unused spaces to provide offices for our Advancement Department in the Worship & Ministry Center
  • The addition of a new Entry Pavilion onto Presidents Hall
  • Completion of the beautifully landscaped E. Ray and Betsy Jones plaza

We also have made excellent progress raising funds for scholarships to benefit our students, including:

  • The John A. Wilson Center for Urban and Global Outreach
  • The Charles and Penny Faust Urban Scholarship Fund
  • The Jill Marie Rendel Scholarship Fund
  • The Russell School of Ministry and Scholarship Fund

In the first two years of Beyond the Walls, we have raised more than $1.1 million in cash for student scholarships.

Phase II

We are now raising funds for Phase II of Beyond the Walls.  $2.5 million will be used for the first step in Phase II to address some much-needed improvements for student housing.  The first step of Phase II will focus on the complete renovation of what is currently the Phyllis Rine residence hall for women.

Included in this project will be:

  • Refurbishing the first floor for our Education Department
  • A new roof for the building
  • New heating and air conditioning
  • New bathroom fixtures, flooring and paint, cabinetry and closets
  • Newly decorated lounges
  • Space for a new convenience store
  • New furniture for all residential spaces
