Leadership Initiative

Despite today’s challenging economy, CCU is not going to back away from our mission to recruit and equip servant leaders for Christ.  Instead, we want to demonstrate leadership as a school by pressing forward, even in the midst of challenging times.  Sponsored by the President’s Advisory Board and the Board of Trustees, CCU’s Leadership Initiative focuses on three legacies:

Three Legacies of the Leadership Initiative

  • Legacy of Distinction (Honor):  Each year CCU will honor an outstanding area leader who upholds Christian values and exerts a widespread positive impact on the region.  The honoree will be an inspirational figure held in high regard as an example of outstanding servant leadership.
  • Legacy of Learning (Education and Encouragement):  CCU will provide opportunities for current business, corporate and community leaders to share their experiences and gain greater skills in leadership.  Our students will have the opportunity to learn and perhaps receive academic credit from seminars, lectureships, and training sessions.
  • Legacy of Purpose (Benevolence and Missions):  CCU’s network of alumni and friends all over the world provides a unique opportunity to meet physical and spiritual needs locally and globally.

To accomplish these goals, we need to endow this effort with sustainable financial support.

Leadership Initiative Funding

Friends of CCU will sponsor the training of future leaders at CCU by providing financial support for tuition discounts, making it possible for more students to gain leadership skills through CCU’s programs.  While not a fund-raising event, the annual CCU Leadership Luncheon serves as a rallying point to explain our vision and help us engage with new funding resources and donors we have never reached before.

CCU is doing everything it can to make Christian higher education available to as many students as possible.  The Leadership Initiative is a way of strengthening CCU’s unrestricted annual fund budget by engaging with new and previously untapped sources of financial support.  Leadership Initiative sponsors will generate tuition sponsorship dollars to help discount tuition costs.

Funding for the Leadership Initiative will be secured through a multifaceted fundraising plan that includes individual donors, major gifts, and corporate and foundation support totaling at least $300,000 by June 30, 2009.

We are currently seeking 100 sponsors to provide $3,000 each to undergird this vision.  And we are seeking a lead “challenge gift” of $50,000 – $100,000 in matching money provided by one or more donors to encourage additional support from each fundraising target group.  The challenge gift will provide a 1:1 match up to the full amount for all new dollars given for the Leadership Initiative by June 30, 2009.

How You Can Help

Give us your feedback.  We need:

  1. Names of individuals we should consider honoring with CCU’s Legacy of Distinction Award, recognizing them as outstanding examples of servant leadership.
  2. Names of people we should invite to next year’s Leadership Luncheon or talk with about CCU and the Leadership Initiative program.

If you haven’t already done so, become involved in CCU’s mission and vision by sharing your financial resources.  Our vision cannot be achieved without your help.   We are seeking 100 Leadership Initiative Sponsors at $3,000 each.  (Some may commit to multiple sponsorships, while others may join forces with friends to provide one sponsorship.)
